Two Chambered Cairns on a long ridge high on the rolling moors above the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal in Shetland. Hike in over peaty heather-covered moors. A modern monument built in the 1980s is visible for a while before you get to the ridge, the first chambered cairn is beside this modern monument.
A pile of stones, white quartz which protrudes through the bedrock on the ridge has been used on the cairn. The second cairn is a few hundred yards along the ridge, with a higher pile of stones, overgrown with lichen. Fantastic views over the hills, moors and islands, with typical Shetland weather of constant wind blowing clouds trailing curtains of rain, interspersed with periods of strong sunshine causing rainbows after the rain. Try to ignore Sullom Voe Oil Terminal, just a mile or so away.
