Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology
Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology submitted by Blingo_von_Trumpenstein : Ashmolean Museums jadeite axes on display (9 displayed together on 3 shelves - photo taken with permission through the glass - very tricky). Jadeite - aaaaaaaah - lovely jadeite. These are the pinnacle of polishing of stone axes - they are insane. Just over 100 known in Britain (all from stone quarried from Monte Viso, Italian Alps - very hard to get to). Many more known from Italy and France.... (Vote or comment on this photo)

The Ashmolean is one of the very finest museums in the world. Superb displays on every floor.
A "wow" around every corner. I would allow 2 days for a real visit as it is large and absolutely everything is interesting. It would be a shame to miss any of it.
Have fun
Blingo
