Lowtherville
Lowtherville submitted by RingPaw : View of site, looking north-west along ridge towards Span & Week Downs. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Lone barrow on the golf course at Rew Down, near Lowtherville or Upper Ventnor, a few metres to the north of the footpath across the course (see map) on the Isle of Wight.

This feature seems to have mostly disappeared; there is a small mound which may be the remains of the barrow at the designated spot, but there are various lumps and bumps associated with the golf course and wartime explosions - and a local golfer could not shed any light as to its position.

The nearby Week Down cemetery is more worthy of a visit if you're in the locality. As usual with IOW sites, the general ambience and spectacular views are worth the effort in any case.

Lowtherville submitted by Ember : Pretty sure the barrow is now hole number? (Lots of golfers about didn't want to annoy them )I'll revisit and can't believe I hadn't spotted it before . Haven't walked this way in a while but did and as soon as I saw it thought that's part of a barrow (Vote or comment on this photo)
