Drake Howe is Historic England List Entry Number 1010531 unfortunately as of May 2019 the details given under this List Entry are for the Round Barrow 200m to the NW of Drake Howe which is Historic England List Entry Number 1010530 and the details given for the round barrow are in fact for Drake Howe. In other words they have got them mixed up

Hi, John, Many thanks for the update. I see Sunny100 has already corrected the entry on the site page. Have you let HE know of the mix up? They seem receptive to making changes and updating information if someone lets them know. If you do, please let us know how it goes and if we need to amend the list entry number again. Well spotted!

The list entry numbers themselves and basic information are correct its the information under the section Details that is incorrect , so if they correct the details the List Entry Numbers themselves would not need to be changed

Hi Anne: With trepidation I did contact HE telling them about the error but as expected from a government run organisation they want me to jump through hoops, fill in forms etc. I’m afraid that I am of that age in life where I no longer have the stamina to deal with this sort of bureaucracy so nothing will be getting changed anytime soon.

Thanks for trying, John. As you said in an earlier post, the information is correct, just the numbers the wrong way round. Perhaps a kind soul might volunteer to fill out the forms for you? (I'm still trying to get my many Dartmoor trip photos sorted and posted at the moment - not a good excuse, really). Please keep up those excellent contributions!

According to Frank Elgee in his 1930 book “Early man in NE Yorkshire” page 71, Drake Howe gets its name from the Old Norse “draukr” meaning a spectre
