Located on the boundary line just below the summit of Stony Ridge on Stockdale Moor. This appears to be a roughly carved cross about 6ft in length which was recumbent when I last visited in 2013. Next to it was boundary stone in two pieces, a still erect piece about 2½ ft in length with an X on the eastern face and another piece about a foot long prostrate on the deck next to it. On the underside of this piece is engraved the letter P. I know this because when I first visited in 2011, it was mounted on top of the other piece. There is nothing in Pastscape or Historic England about this location but it is marked on old OS maps as Job Cross. My take on this and of course this is only conjecture is that the now recumbent cross was probably the original boundary stone for this location and whilst there is no evidence of it being mounted in a base (not all crosses were) it still begs the question “when is a cross (and named as such) not a cross” especially when another boundary stone has been put next to it.
