Bat's Hogsty
Bat's Hogsty submitted by SolarMegalith : SE corner of Bat's Hogsty, where the ditch reaches a stream, which is much deeper then the ditches (photo taken on December 2011). (Vote or comment on this photo)
This confusing earthwork of 92 x 106 m dimensions is located in a forest east of Aldershot. It consists of several lines of banks and ditches, which are in best condition at the south. At the SE the ditch is connected with a stream, so it could have been waterlogged. Earlier field reports describe the earthworks as defenses, but the defensive function of the monument seems to be unlikely to me, mainly due to its location. New reports suggest that Bat's Hogsty is a maze. The chronology of the site remains unknown.

hi. not far from bat's hogsty i found 3 barrows on the opposite side of the track. Of interest i found over the years from v old maps of the area etc no less than 15 barrows in the farnborough/aldershot area. what is known as caesar's camp (is turksbury hill from a 16th century map) are fresh water springs, as well as massive hillfort but on the opposite hill, the tower hill are more fresh water springs plus a possible and no longer stone circle which the village gets its name from. Cove. this area has dozens of ancient things around but its hard to find any info on. much like most other ancient sites. keep looking, they are there to be rediscovered :)
