JohnLindsay visited on 14th Feb 2013 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 4 Access: 4 The 34, 35, bus, four an hour, with a stop at Red Road. This is the beginning of the Brentmoor Nature Reserve, or the Aldershot Military Lands, depending on your preferences. The four barrows are a short walk along the right of way. There is a Surrey Wildlife Trust Board, and a megalith, or sarsen stone, which they seem to have placed there. If there is no evidence of excavation, then how it is known that it is a barrow cemetry is beyond me. There is a reference to Needham and Longley, so that text I'm going to try to track down. I wonder why it couldn't be called a battered long mound?

GrahamTD visited on 15th Oct 2010 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 4 Access: 4 Looking at them from ground level, rather different from satellite image. Overgrown, though there is an information board which helps. Confusing that the Historic Environment Record HER 3228, indicates a different position South-East of what I looked at, perhaps it refers to a different barrow?

Re: West End Common Barrows by Anonymous on Friday, 01 March 2013
yes, or at least I think so, the bus 34, 35 from Woking to the stop on Red Road, then walk along a short distance and there is a wildlife trust sign explaining something of the place.

I seem to remember that I found some excavation reports but I lost my comment as I hadn't noticed the five plus three thing, which this time I have noticed.
