The nearest town to the village of Toddington, is Houghton Regis, not Dunstable as the article states.

The ArchData service search website and EH pastscape record both regard it as a Medieval Motte and Bailey though I can't find any reference to excavations to prove or disprove this assumption furthermore hillforts are always in there finished state so there is no reason why it could be a prehistoric site turned into medieval (hope its ok to post EH links) Conger Hill

Toddington is in Bedfordshire (not Hertfordshire)
When I was at school in Toddington in the 1950s all the school children used to go and put our ears to the ground on Conger Hill on Shrove Tuesday to listen to the witch who lived in the hill frying her pancakes.

This site suggests this is actually a motte and bailey castle.

Pictures of the site can be seen here.

Both sites maintain that Conger Hill is in Bedfordshire, not Herts.

Conger hill is in Toddington behind the church, it was a harvest hill later it became a mott and bailey. local legend has it there are witches in the hill and on pancake day local school children put their ears to the hill to listen to the witches frying pancakes.
