Long Barrow in Yorkshire (East)

Pastscape Monument No. 64657 says this site is visible as a slight rise in a ploughed field, and records it as "A Neolithic long barrow with a Bronze Age oval barrow at its eastern end. Twelve Anglo-Saxon inhumations in the ditch of the oval barrow. A possible Medieval beacon in the forecourt of the long barrow. Now nearly ploughed flat. Calibrated radiocarbon dates centring on 725 and 745 AD, and one uncalibrated date centring on 570 were obtained from the Saxon inhumations."

The Northern Antiquarian (TNA) also features a page for this site - see their entry for Kemp Howe, Sledmere, East Yorkshire which includes a drawing of Mortimer's ground plan and extracts from his lengthy, very interesting and detailed, notes.
