St Helen's Well (South Cave) submitted by HOLYWELL : St Helen's Well in the grounds of Castle Hotel (Vote or comment on this photo)
Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Yorkshire (East)

This is a circular well lined with dressed rock, which has been repaired over the years but always kept in good condition. It was once a roadside well but the road was diverted in the mid 1800s when the 'Castle' was built (circa 1824) and the lake made. It is easily found just a few yards past the entrance near the church. I found the reception of the castle, now a hotel, most accomodating and allowed me to visit it.
