Sharpenhoe Burial Mound submitted by oldman : Burial Mound. About 1km from the Sharpenhoe Hill Fort. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Round Barrow in Bedfordshire

We spotted the mound on the horizon from the nearby footpath below the site. The OS map shows a trackway from the Sharpenhoe Road leading directly to the site. This track does lead directly to the mound but I have marked it as requiring a bit more of a walk as on the occasion of our visit the gate to the track was closed and we had to climb over it. I've said a round barrow but it might be better described as a tumulus? It's not very big but stony beneath the grass as revealed by poking with a walking pole.
