Modern stone in Charente-Maritime, this particular stone can be found in the wood of La Villedieu, but it is very difficult to find it.
Some people think that it was brought here from quarries around to sculpture a menhir.
The stone was found back by an abbot ("abbé" in French), for certain, that means that there was an abbey in the village of La Villedieu.
The name of the stone could come from this abbot but also from a celtic name associated to specific place: tree, stone, bridge etc...
