Queen's Park Earthworks
Queen's Park Earthworks submitted by Glaschu : The ambience of Queen's Park Earthworks. It's surrounded by trees - including either side and on the ramparts, but inside is a clearing with long grass and it's beautiful in the morning sunshine (Vote or comment on this photo)
The site is at the top of the hill in Queens Park, it's a very popular park in a busy part of the city. Easily accessible on foot, though uphill, and paved most of the way.

There is the remains of an outer ditch and inner ramparts, approximately 119m diameter according to the Trove archaeological record from 1967. The link below has records of previous archeological excavation. There are some large boulders within but they are noted as possibly being more recent.

Despite the urban setting, and probably because it's off the paved paths, the site itself is very tranquil, surrounded by trees, and if you can ignore the remains of barbecues and illicit drinking then you can forget you're in the city at all. Hence me putting ambience of 5.

It's often referred to as iron age earthworks including on Google maps and on the sign nearby, although as far as I have read the date of it is uncertain.

More info from Trove, the new Canmore, which is where I got the grid ref
It's on Google Maps
And there is a marker on the base map for this website indicating a historic place

[There is no option for "Glasgow" as county or any that make sense - historical counties don't really make sense in Scottish cities. So I would request Glasgow be added as a county option - as, ideally would other local authority areas]
