Mithras portrayed with the body of a man and the head of a lion, holding the key to mysteries in his left hand with a serpent coiled around each leg. Altar to the god Mithras 2nd-3rd century. The god comes from India and Persia (Iran). (Vote or comment on this photo)

Museum in Gironde tracing the history of Bordeaux and Aquitaine from Prehistory to today along with 5000 pieces of art from Africa and Oceania.

The permanent collections are on two floors. On the ground floor are pieces on Prehistory, Protohistory, Roman Empire, the Middle Ages and the Modern Era. At level 1, there are eighteenth century pieces (Atlantic trade and slavery),
